First Impressions.....

We have been in Del Rio 4 whole days now. The base is actually quite nice.....small, but nice. It's apparently the biggest pilot training base in the U.S. There are about 250 other pilot trainees checking in along with Doug this week! Geez. So anyway, the base is a few miles out of town which is kind of nice. Del Rio boasts 35,000 people, Chili's, Applebee's, Rudy's (so happy about this I can't even tell you), Wal Mart, HEB, aaaaaaaand that's about it. No Target, no mall, no Michael's/Hobby Lobby, no fun for Meagan! =) There is however a nice lake several miles north called Lake Amistad. And if you're feeling really crazy, you can head to Mexico which is only 3 miles away (but actually we aren't allowed to go......not that I would anyway!). Doug has been busy with in-processing, but thankfully we get our house tomorrow! It will be on base which will be very nice for Doug. I will share pictures as soon as we have internet! Here are a few pics around town......

Driving down the main street through town. There are lots and lots of Mexican restaurants.

The Mall. Don't be fooled....it contains a JCPenny, Ross, Rack Room Shoes, Applebee's, the 8 screen theater, and maybe 5 other shops. Let's just say I would never go there by myself.....

Took this from the car, but here is Lake Amistad! I'm sure we will be spending quite a bit of time here!

Also, tonight is the Season Finale of The Bachelorette and I am so so excited! I really really want Ali to pick Chris.....which inevitably means she will choose Roberto. Either way, it should be 2 solid hours of over dramatized fun for me! Enjoy a trip to Target for me today......

  1. Meagan, Im glad yall are getting settled, but i am sorry there isn't much to do there, but the lake should be a lot of fun! I actually just came back from a trip to target. I guess yall will just have to make frequent trips to Dallas and San Antonio to get you fix! Call us if you come down (or up?) for a visit!

Please don't get to close to the Mexico border, hopefully no one tries to smuggle into your house! I will send you random pictures from Target so you can act like you are shopping there!!!
